Farzana T Prity
I am a molecular biologist currently pursuing my PhD at Macquarie University in Sydney. My research focuses on protein biochemistry, with a specific interest in the functions of multidrug efflux pumps. I am particularly interested in discovering and characterising novel efflux pumps in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Acinetobacter baumannii. My current work involves conducting growth assays to study multidrug resistance and tolerance, as well as using a range of biophysical, biochemical, and molecular methods to understand membrane protein functions. To enhance my skills as a protein biochemist, I gained valuable experience at the membrane protein laboratory at the Diamond Light Source in Oxford, UK. My research contributes to understanding antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, particularly efflux pumps.
